Water - Drink it for life

It is common knowledge that humans are an average of 60% - 75% water.  When reminded of this, one of the important reasons for drinking enough water is simple - the water you drink becomes, well, you!!  Did you know that every day, you need to replace at least 80 ounces of water?  That is 2 ½ quarts - a little more than half a gallon.

So, what does water do exactly? Water is essential in digesting the food we eat and promoting the absorption of the vitamins and minerals we need from that food. Water also helps regulate blood circulation.  It removes wastes and toxins from our bodies.  It helps to lubricate joints and protect the spinal cord.  Water also carries oxygen and nutrients around in our body - and when that happens, we feel better and have more energy.

Most people are unaware of the amount of complications associated with not replenishing our fluids properly.  Headaches, migraines, back pain, arthritis, colitis, angina, and fibromyalgia just to name a few.  Not drinking enough water can also cause you to have a poor memory, feel tired all the time, and have trouble losing weight.  Basically, there are so many functions that water contributes to, lack of it will upset a bodies entire way of functioning.  It has also been reported that pain medications can stop the signals for needing water, and water itself can be the cure needed for the pain.

I am a recent experimenter with this, and the results I have seen are quite astounding.  Recently I have increased my life pace to the point where I am moving from 6:30AM on most days until 10PM or later in the evening.  Over the last couple of weeks, I have been keeping a close eye on my water intake. Just to see for myself, I will have a day with very little water, maybe a couple of glasses, and a day with at least 80-90 ounces of water.  On the days where I drink very little, I am tired and in a lot of pain.  I am also in a bad mood, and feel a little scattered.  On days where I drink lots of water I feel absolutely wonderful.  I am bursting with energy.  My mind is sharp and my muscles feel good.  My general attitude is better and I feel less stressed.

I started researching drinking enough water, and the results I have found are entirely too much to put into one article.  I encourage you to spend 15 minutes learning about this for yourself.  It could possibly be some of the most important research you ever do. Type in “drinking enough water” on your search engine, and read a couple of things that pop up.  The results are truly amazing.

In relating to massage therapy, drinking enough water after a massage is vital to receive the full effects of that massage.  When your muscles are kneaded, toxins laying dormant in the muscles become released.  If you do not flush them out, then it is likely that you could be sore the next day, or sometimes even get sick.  This is very easily avoided by taking in a few extra glasses of water after a nice massage.  This way, you can enjoy all the benefits associated with it. With the hard earned money and time you spent to do it, making sure to have the effects last as long as possible makes a lot of sense.

So, go fill up that glass with some juicy, delicious, lovely and refreshing water.  I’ve got mine right now.  Yummy!!  And toast to a long and vital life, you deserve it!!
